Levin
Greenacres is situated only one kilometre from the country town of Levin, in the district of Horowhenua. Levin is surrounded by fertile plains and farmland and close to the Tararua Ranges. It has a good shopping centre, swimming pool, a lake and also scenic and recreational parks.
We can recommend several good restaurants in Levin, which cater for a variety of tastes from beautiful Indian foods to delicious Chinese, Thai, English or good New Zealand Fayre.
Things to do
Within a ten minute drive, there are bushwalks, horse treks, white water rafting rivers, cycling paths and safe beaches.

Relax in the shared lounge.
Of particular note, Waitarere Forest is a beautiful location to go walking, cycling or horse riding, and was used in the Lord Of The Rings movies to represent Trollshaw Forest and Osgiliath Wood. The forests runs alongside Waitarere Beach where you can test your surfing skills or simply enjoy the Summer sun with an ice-cream after your walk.
For those on the Lord Of The Rings trail, Otaki and Otaki Gorge are a few kilometres south. Otaki Gorge Road drives deep into Tararua Ranges where you can enjoy a picnic or go camping for a few nights. For those that enjoy car rides, a very exciting drive about half an hour south to Upper Hutt along the Akatarawa River Road takes you over the Ruahine Range into Kaitoke National Park.
For hikers, you have a world of choice. Gentle strolls and strenuous hikes are all avilable on clearly marked paths in the ranges. There are many mountains reaching 1500 metres accessible by paths.
Our closest beaches are Waitarere Beach and Hokio Beach, however there are many miles of sand to choose from along the Western coast of New Zealand.
Only a 10 minute drive away are The Tararua Ranges and there are guided walks to the Ohau Hut up in the bush. The river is beautiful, with water clean enough to drink, and there are several refreshing water holes for swimming.
For bird spotters (of the feathered variety), there are several bird sanctuaries close by. One is situated at Horowhenua Lake and another in the wetland reserve areas at Lake Papiatonga. Kapiti Island is a native bird reserve accessible by boat where there are resident Kakapos, Keas and many other natives in residence.
Wellington, our nation's capital city, is only one hour south. Levin is an ideal base from which to tour Wellington without the expense and hassles of city life.
Or, best of all, you can enjoy the sun setting over the sea or sip some local wine as you watch the beautiful display as the mountains change colours when the day draws to a close.
How to reach us

A peaceful property located
on a 10 acre block
We are just one hour's drive from central Wellington, the International Airport and the Inter Island Ferry Terminal. We are situated only a 35 minute drive from Palmerston North, the next major city.
Drive north from Wellington along the SH1. Pass through Levin and look for the large "Greenacres" board on your left. Turn left immediately afterwards, in to Avenue North Road - there is only one property on your left, about 100 meters down the road. If you are arriving from Palmerston North, you will arrive in the centre of Levin. Turn right and head north (towards Foxton) and look for the same sign.
Travelling south from Foxton, the sign is after the property. Just take the next right (also on Avenue North) as the road loops. Just look on the right before you rejoin the main road.
By train, the nearest station is Levin. Walk or cycle north along SH1 for a kilometre and look for the sign.
